Insulin Pump is a device that delivers a continuous supply of insulin into a patient with sever or hard to manage diabetes. The insulin flows from a device outside the body through a pump into a plastic tube that is connected to a needle inserted into the body and taped in place. The device is easy to wear in a pocket or on a belt. It is battery operated. The Insulin Pump delivers insulin in two flows: a low, steady rate (called the basal rate) for continuous day-long coverage, and extra boosts of insulin (called bolus doses) to cover meals or when extra insulin is needed.
